Nova’s Kate, Tim & Marty take out the top honour: Best On Air Team at 2016 ACRAs

NOVA Entertainment won 14 awards at the 28th annual Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs) this evening at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Kate Ritchie, Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold, Nova’s national Drive team, took out the night’s most anticipated award, winning the Best On Air Team - Metro FM.

Sam Pang, from Nova 100’s Chrissie, Sam & Browny, won Best Newcomer On Air. Having launched as Melbourne’s new breakfast show in January this year, Chrissie Swan, Sam Pang and Jonathan Brown also won the Best Station Produced Comedy Segment for ‘Avocado’ while their Associate Producer Jack Charles was recognised as Best Newcomer Off-Air.

Kent ‘Smallzy’ Small from Smallzy’s Surgery, Australia’s number one night show, took home the ACRA for Best Music or Entertainment Presenter Metro and Star 104.5’s Rabbit was recognised in the same category for the Provincial market.

Peter Clay, who has just been promoted to Head of Programs for Nova 96.9 and smoothfm, was recognised as Best Program Director for his previous role with smoothfm. The smoothfm team also picked up the Best Musical Special award for the Top 500 Smooth Favourites Countdown.

On the news front, Ange Anderson from Nova 106.9 and Anne Stone from FIVEaa were awarded Best News Presenter for Metro FM and AM respectively.

Cathy O’Connor, NOVA Entertainment’s Chief Executive Officer, was inducted into the Commercial Radio Hall of Fame for her outstanding achievement and contribution to the radio broadcasting industry. After 31 years in the radio industry, on 1 October Cathy celebrated eight years as the company’s CEO.
