Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli

Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli can be heard alongside Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald, weekdays on Nova 96.9’s Sydney breakfast show. Fitzy & Wippa can also be heard nationally from 6pm to 7pm on the Nova Network.

Working in radio has given Wippa the platform to live out his dreams, from the creation of his own podcast series, Invictus Games – The Soldier and the Story with Wippa, to making it into the Guinness Book of Records for engineering the world’s biggest catapult (The Bob-Katterpult) through to making his mark on the iTunes Rap/Hip Hop charts with his single ‘Born to Rap’.

Fitzy & Wippa have raised over a million dollars for charity through various campaigns such as Barry the Parody Bear, which raised over $100,000 and won them an Australian Commercial Radio Award in 2015. In 2019 Fitzy & Wippa's Backyard Cricket won Best Station Promotion at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards, bringing the show a total of eight ACRA award wins since 2013.

Having started his journey in building management, working from project to project allowed Wippa the freedom to test out the entertainment industry. On completing a radio short course, Wippa put together a demo that saw him gain his first radio gig in country South Australia.

After returning to his home town of Melbourne, Wippa came to the attention of Nova’s programming team and secured a Perth breakfast gig in 2007. Two years later Wippa returned to Melbourne to join Nova’s national drive show. In 2011 he teamed up with Fitzy and the duo moved to Sydney with the drive show before taking over Nova 96.9’s Sydney breakfast show in September that year.

Wippa is an Ambassador for Tourism Australia and a passionate spokesperson for the Cooper Rice Brading Foundation, funding hope for the future for young sarcoma patients. Wippa also owns his own production company, Two Basic Scoops Media and in 2019 produced the reality series, I am…Roxy.

When he’s not broadcasting from the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, being dropped into the jungle for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! or creating TV shows for Network Ten, Wippa spends his time with his wife Lisa and their two sons Theodore and Jack.
