Katie Mattin

Katie’s down to earth presenting style provides a fun offering for Nova 106.9’s listeners in the Afternoons from 1-4pm.

After dropping out of university, Katie secured a job opening the mail in a bank. After suffering too many paper cuts she called in sick and begged the receptionist at the UK radio show Power FM to help her get an interview with the street team.

Once they let her in the building she jumped at every opportunity to learn how to use the studio and practice talking on air.

Katie scored a job delivering the traffic report from a plane. By plane she meant a rusty old mini with wings. She also learnt how to panel which came in handy when one evening the boss called and asked if she could fill in for a sick announcer and the rest is history.

After covering every shift and doing the traffic on both the breakfast and drive shows, she was promoted to co-host for the drive show.

Katie’s connection to Australia started while working in the UK. While doing voiceovers for the National Top 30 Countdown she fell for an Aussie boy and followed him to Bondi.

Katie moved to Brisbane in 2011 and was heard on weekends on Nova 106.9. In July this year she became Nova’s morning announcer.

In her spare time Katie chases after her twin girls and continues her quest to perfect the Aussie BBQ.
