Richard Wilkins creates a feel good place for listeners to relax on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 10am to 1pm on Smooth FM.

Richard joined Smooth FM in 2012 and is the winner of two Australian Commercial Radio Award (ACRA) awards for Best Music Special – in 2013 for his John Farnham special, and in 2015 for his co-host with Michael Bublé.

Richard has been Channel Nine’s Entertainment editor for 32 years and has been a regular on the Today Show and Today Extra as well as filing stories for A Current Affair, reporting for National Nine News, Ninemsn and a multitude of other outlets as the Nine Network’s Entertainment Editor. In 2020 he was made co-host of Weekend Today along side co-host Rebecca Maddern.

New Zealand born Richard made the move to Australia in 1980 with his band “Wilde and Reckless”. In 1987 Richard landed his big break as the host of MTV Australia, helming the ground-breaking show through its six year run.

In 2006 he returned to the stage in “Grease: The Arena Spectacular’, winning acclaim for the role of Vince Fontaine. In 2010 he released two CDs “39 #1 Hits of the 1980’s” and “38 More Smash Hits From the 80’s” with both albums hitting the ARIA Top 20.

In September 2011 Richard released the critically acclaimed “Black Ties, Red Carpets, Green Rooms” documenting his illustrious career.

His extraordinary career earned him a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for ‘significant service to the community through a range of charities, and to the entertainment industry’ in 2014.

Richard has interviewed the biggest stars in film and music including Billy Connolly, Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Robbie Williams, Britney Spears, Barbra Streisand, Paul McCartney, Barry Humphries, Neil Diamond, Elton John and Billy Joel.
