Peter Overton, renowned Australian television news journalist, will join smoothfm as guest news journalist, reinforcing smoothfm’s commitment to providing listeners with credible news coverage, from Monday 4 September.

Peter Overton joins smoothfm’s experienced news team that includes Steve Blanda, an esteemed figure in Australian radio with 40 years’ experience and the winner of 18 Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRA); respected journalist Ron Wilson, who presented Network Ten’s news for over 33 years; and smoothfm 95.3’s Breakfast News Journalist Glenn Daniel, who has over 30 years’ experience as News Director for multiple radio networks and has three Best News Presenter ACRAs and won the prestigious Brian White Award in 2014 and Jennifer Hansen, who worked alongside Mal Walden as Network Ten’s primetime longest serving news team in Australian television history.

Peter will be heard in mornings from 10am on smoothfm while Steve Blanda is on leave. One of Australia’s most respected news journalists, Peter’s media career spans over 30 years. He joined Channel Nine in 1991 as a sports reporter for Sydney’s National Nine News before spending 10 years as reporter and presenter for the Nine Newsroom. In 2001 he joined 60 Minutes as a reporter for eight years and continues to contribute special reports for the program. Peter was appointed chief newsreader for Sydney’s 6pm edition of Nine News in January 2009.

Peter Overton can be heard on smoothfm 95.3 Sydney and smoothfm 91.5 from Monday 4 September at 10am, 11am and 12pm daily until Friday 8 September.
